The Strengthening Public Accountability in Parliament (Damal)

The teams focused their efforts on a few of the highest-value S&OP levers in order to review the current planning process, identify gaps in the planning infrastructure and analytically understand demand and supply variability.

The Strengthening Public Accountability in Parliament (Damal) project, funded by USAID, collaborated with Somalia’s government to enhance the Parliament’s capacity for financial governance and oversight. Recognizing the importance of public engagement, and to actively promote increased participation in parliamentary processes, Damal needed support in localizing and translating the project output in a manner that bridges the gap between citizens and policymakers.

To ensure effective communication, Afartan provided high-quality translation and localization services. Their deep understanding of institutional contexts allowed them to convey Damal’s message clearly to parliamentarians, civil society, and the general public.

As a result of Afartan’s services, Damal’s engagement with stakeholders improved significantly. Their message reached the intended audience promptly, reinforcing the importance of public oversight and accountability.
