Afartan Partnered with SPA in Blog Writing Training

Afartan’s contribution to the training program proved to be a resounding success. With 20 graduates, the course injected a fresh wave of voices into the Somali blogging community. These young bloggers are now empowered to represent their communities, share diverse stories, and raise awareness about important issues. Their online presence has the potential to spark dialogue, not just within Somalia, but also with a wider global audience. This initiative has the power to create a more vibrant and informed online landscape for Somalia.

The Somali Public Agenda (SPA) and Digital Shelter (Afartan) recognized a critical gap – the limited capacity for young Somalis to engage in blog writing. This lack of experienced bloggers restricted the diversity of voices and perspectives online.

By leveraging Afartan’s network of seasoned bloggers, Afartan designed and delivered a comprehensive blogging course. These trainers didn’t just provide technical skills like writing and publishing; they also shared their personal experiences and offered mentorship, creating a supportive environment for the young learners.
